WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
The far Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, just far enough from the Wisconsin state line to be raised a Bears fan.
WHAT DO YOU DO HERE?
As the Chief Operations Officer, I oversee all of our internal processes, look for what’s broken and what could make us even more awesome, and find ways to implement all of the brilliance that flows around here.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING AT CODE KOALAS?
Everyone here wants to be here, and everyone is passionate about being the best they can be, personally and professionally. No one here is content with being stagnant, and no one is complacent. I love that.
TELL US A JOKE?
A photon checks into a hotel. The bellhop asks, “Can I help you with your luggage?” The photon replies, “I don’t have any. I’m traveling light!”
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED AS COO?
My mom was a real estate agent at a two-woman agency in rural northern Illinois, and as a child I frequently went to work with her. She and her boss would occasionally give me clerical and administrative tasks to take care of for them. Processes and implementation came pretty naturally to me, and by the time Ryan was starting Code Koalas, I had already taken on that role in much of his previous work. I spent the first 6 years of Code Koalas’ life in the background, helping Ryan in an advisory capacity before officially joining the team in the spring of 2017. Ryan has the brilliant ideas, I do my best to make sure they get done.
WHAT ARE SOME TOOLS YOU USE ON A DAILY BASIS?
Slack, Google Drive, & Jira.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT KANSAS CITY?
We’re such a sprawling area, you can drive 20 minutes from downtown and feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. I love how quickly you can go from bustling downtown to farm country.
HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR COFFEE?
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?
A theoretical physicist and a spy. I abandoned both when I realized I hated calculus and wanted to have a family.
WHAT WOULD YOUR SUPERPOWER BE IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE?
Flight. It would be super fun, way more efficient than any other mode of transport, and I’d forever be the coolest mom out there!
Multipliers by Liz Wiseman, Daring Greatly by Brene Brown, The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (because it deserves the occasional re-read!)
ITEMS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
See my kids grow into healthy adults, meet my great-grandchildren, & travel everywhere that interests me.
STAR WARS OR STAR TREK?
They don’t come cooler than the original Star Wars trilogy. Sorry, Trekkies.
